A group of five figures – mannequins made from black dyed jute fabric. These are early works by Abakanowicz marking a new direction in her art where human forms lose individuality yet remain diverse, carrying a mysterious organic structure reminiscent of nature and life. The figures are integral to the group – similar but unique, performing different gestures and expressing individual emotions. The work has been owned by the artist for years and exhibited in many international shows from Düsseldorf to Kielce.
