A painting from a series of completely abstract works from the early 1990s, in which Richter challenges the viewer's sight to perceive something beyond the pure elements of his art: color, gesture, paint layering and the impersonal outlining of the surface with paint, allowing accidental combinations to appear on the painting. The space of the painting resembles a mirror and encourages the viewer to abandon the search for external content, deriving satisfaction from the beauty of the object itself, comparable to admiring intricate fabric. The multicolored nature and color transitions partly arose beyond the artist's full control, thus the painting refers to the natural optical charms created by nature.
