Biography

Ewa Juszkiewicz is a Polish painter and contemporary artist known for her surreal portraits of women, in which faces are replaced by elements such as rolled-up fabric, flowers or shells. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk and a doctoral student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Her works have gained international recognition and high prices at auctions.

Education

She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk in the studio of Prof. Maciej Swieszewski. She is continuing her doctoral studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow.

Career development

In 2009, she received a special award in Hestia's Artistic Journey competition. In 2014, she was included in the book 100 Painters of Tomorrow, as well as the Compass of Young Art.

Auction successes

Her paintings are sold at world auctions for record amounts, including the painting 'Maria (After Johannes Cornelisz Verspronck)' sold for more than £350,000, and 'Portrait of a Lady' for more than $1.5 million.

Characteristics of creativity

Characteristic are surrealistic female portraits inspired by ancient painting, with organic motifs - rolls of cloth, flowers or shells - replacing the faces.
