Children at the Table, 1929
In the years 1929-30, Tadeusz Makowski created numerous works depicting children, often indoors, sitting at a table, which were presented, among others, at an exhibition at the Berthe Weill Gallery in Paris in 1928. The depicted figures wear pointed caps and resemble wooden dolls with shiny eyes. These compositions are characterized by lyricism and subtle expression, as well as a distinctive simplified form and clear contours. The painting 'Children at the Table' is an example of this mature phase of Makowski's work, which also includes works in museum collections in Poland and abroad.
